Dr. Meghan Waters, D.C. is the owner and operator of Gentle Hands Chiropractic. She graduated cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida.  She received her undergraduate degree in History from the University of Central Florida. As an Oregon licensed Chiropractor, Dr. Waters specializes in low force correction of spinal misalignments. She has a particular focus in Sacro-Occipital Technique and Activator Methods, two well-researched and effective methods of adjusting the spine.

The goal of Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is to restore the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the spinal cord and brain.  Circulation of C.S.F. is integral to a well-functioning body, and the breakdown of this pump can cause pain, organ dysfunction, and other pathological conditions.

SOT involves:

  1. Blocking (placing wedges under) the pelvis
  2. Craniopathy
  3. Spinal adjustments
  4. Organ reflex stimulation
  5. Extremity adjusting (shoulder, knees, elbows, hips, etc)

This correction is facilitated by the use of wedges that are placed under the pelvis.  Craniopathy, the gentle movement of the cranial bones, is combined with spinal adjustments to increase nervous system function.

In addition to SOT, Dr. Meghan Waters also uses Activator Methods system of analysis and correction.

This technique involves isolating the area of misalignment using interactive movements by the patient. The spinal misalignments are then corrected by a mechanical force adjusting instrument called an Activator.

Activator Methods is one of the most well-researched low force chiropractic techniques in the world. Over 105 manuscripts on Activator Methods have been published by the National Institute of Chiropractic Research and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Meghan Waters has an advanced certification in this technique through Activator Methods International.

The gentle nature of both of these techniques facilitates better care for:

  1. Children
  2. Those with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, IBS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  3. The elderly
  4. Post spinal surgery patients
  5. First time chiropractic patients

Dr. Meghan Waters philosophy is that every person deserves to live their life at their greatest physical potential.  Good nutrition, exercise, peaceful mental health, and regular chiropractic care can help create this reality.

“I decided to become a chiropractor when I realized that chiropractic care helps more than just back pain, it allows the entire body to function better.”  -Dr. Meghan Waters
